How long do you sit down each day?

Friday 25th October 2013

How long do you sit down each day? 3 hours or more? If so, do yourself a favour and take 2 minutes to read this article.

For many of us technology has led to a work place where we sit for extended periods of time. Unfortunately our bodies were not designed to sit as much as they do. It is not coincidental that more people are developing postural problems like weak & lazy buttocks, a protruding chin, rounded shoulders and weak core muscles. In the short term these postural problems can result in a variety of pains like headaches, migraines and knee, shoulder & back pain. But in the long term these postural problems can lead to serious irreversible skeletal problems, including degeneration of discs and joints and wear and tear of cartilage.

As we are we not going to sit less in the future, The Woodlands Fitness Centre want to do their bit for local people and offer a FREE group or individual 'Movement Analysis presentation'. This movement analysis only takes 10 minutes and will show you which muscles are underactive and which muscles are overactive. Woodlands will then give you, your friends, your family and your colleagues some simple exercises that could be done in the office or at home. These exercises will help counteract the problems associated with sitting for too long. This is a serious matter, one that Woodlands are very passionate about. Every day Woodlands deal with scores of people who have muscle imbalances. This applies to people of all ages, shapes and sizes.

Woodlands want to help you prevent the associated problems from occurring and help keep you healthy, happy and productive. Their team is trained to very high levels by The National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM). The information they provide is both truly amazing AND scientifically proven.
